DARKA Past Projects

Over the past 20 years Darka has been involved in a number of projects that brought together the Government of the Sudan, International business and large Sudanese organisations.

Zalengy Water Project, Darfur State, Western Sudan, 1993, UNDP

The Zalengy water project was carried out in 1993 for the United Nations Development Program. Zalengy is 2600km from Port Sudan and transportation was carried out by a combination of train and road. The first leg of the trip was carried out from Port Sudan to Nyala by train and from niala to Zalengy by road.

Kenana Sugar Factory, 6 MGW Power Plant Project, Central Sudan, 1996

The Kenana Factory is the largest Sudanese sugar manufacturer. It is situated in the White Nile State in central Sudan 1100km from Port Sudan.
